What is a Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Facial?

Platelet Rich Plasma Treatments at Top Aesthetics Clinics in Southampton & Central London

How does the PRP Vampire Facial work, exactly? Don’t let the name fool you. In fact, we usually perform the procedure in the full light of day. The first step of a PRP Vampire Facial treatment is to collect a small amount of blood- the same process as giving blood in the nurse’s office. The specimen is then put into a centrifuge which is specially formulated to separate & extract a high concentration of platelets and growth factors.

The platelets contain high levels of growth factors, which, when applied to the skin, act as an energy boost. It accelerates the body's ability to heal & repair; increasing everything from collagen to elastin, while also bringing antioxidant and hydrating properties. The results are improved fine wrinkles, firmer, tighter & smooth skin. If you suffer from skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, scarring etc it helps treat these skin conditions and maintain great results.

When applied to hair- it increases hair growth and maintains hair follicles longer to prevent loss! In essence, PRP therapy is safe, natural and produces great results. It's becoming increasingly more popular than dermal fillers. Celebrities such as Kim Kardashian are using PRP as a regular facial to maintain flawless skin.

Treat Premature Wrinkles & Fine lines

PRP can be used in any part of the body. But for cosmetic purposes PRP is used for;

  • Skin conditions such as acne & rosacea
  • Acne Scars
  • Premature wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • UV damage- hyperpigmentation
  • Undereye hollows and dark circles
  • Fine lines around the mouth
  • Cheeks
  • Sagging skin

If you are unsure whether or not you qualify for this treatment, we advise that you give the clinic a call, or arrange your consultation so that we can assess your individual circumstance, or provide an alternative treatment.

As far as risks go, there aren’t as many as you might think. In fact, the only risk you really run is bruising at the time of the venepuncture. Aside from the discomfort of a blood draw (with a needle, no bites!) and bruising from injection or micro-needling, the vampire facial is extremely safe, as it is your body’s own blood being recycled.

What Happens During Treatment?

Before the procedure, your skin will be cleaned and prepared just as it would be for a regular facial. Your Azra Aesthetics specialist will then apply a local anaesthetic cream, to ensure that the procedure is as comfortable as possible for you. Then, a 15ml blood sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate the portions of plasma and platelets. The platelet (PRP) portions of your blood are then injected back into the skin.

The treatment generally takes around 30 minutes.

Treatments for Hair Loss

PRP is more effective when injected directly into the skin & not rubbed over the treatment area after microneedling as with some vampire therapy treatments. A fine injection needle is used across the whole treatment area so there are multiple injection points for maximum effect. All of this will be discussed during your in-depth consultation and treatment will be tailored specifically for you and your needs after a thorough assessment.

So, if you are looking for an effective treatment for hair loss then PRP Vampire therapy may be just what you’ve been looking for.

What Are The Benefits?

Once you reach the age of 25, the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin tends to slow down. To maintain the elasticity and smoothness of your skin, you should consider treatments such as the PRP Vampire Facial. In addition to the face, you can opt for the procedure for your hands, neck, décolletage, and any other sections where you notice the effects of ageing. Some of the benefits you can experience are:

  • Smoother skin with a firmer texture
  • Wrinkles reduced
  • Removal of acne scars
  • Injury or surgical marks reduced
  • Clearing stretch marks
  • Fresh, youthful, glowing skin
  • Improvement in the skin tone with a more even colouring
  • Erasing of pigmentation, sun spots, and dullness
  • Virtually painless treatment thanks to the numbing agents
